There are different levels of overdubbing, but the top one is Perfect Overdubbing, where you hear a theatrically perfect mix of old and new in your headphones during the performance. So all of those have to be at matching sample rates and conditions. In Overdubbing, Audacity will play a backing or sync track to your headphones (usually the top track) at the exact same time it’s recording your new performance (the second track). That’s almost always the problem when recording stops dead For No Apparent Reason. So it has to play and record at the same time. In overdubbing, Audacity is required to establish a return pathway to your headphones in addition to recording the fresh performance. I have unchecked the box that says “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” in the playback device’s advanced settings, but that has not remedied the issue. When I try to switch it it does switch, but then when I record in Audacity the same thing happens, so I go back to check the playback device settings and it’s reverted back to 48k!ĭoes anyone know how to stop this from happening, or have other ideas as to what might be wrong? I have looked at other posts with problems similar to mine, and I suspect my problem to be something to do with the project rate: I have my project rate in Audacity set to 44.1k as well as on my recording device, but on my playback device it defaults to 48k. Unfortunately, whenever I have overdub selected, I cannot record a second track my first track always records fine but the second simply gets stuck at the gate–it’s like it is recording for a millisecond and it leaves a mark in the area where the sound wave thingy should be but nothing more than that. I've tried following those threads and use the same settings.I am a new user of audacity and I am trying to figure out how to record 2 tracks at once. I did see that others in the forum have been using Fast Track with Reaper successfully. I really want to use it because of the huge number of effects and other things that we can add here. If I'm not able to get this working, I won't be able to use Reaper. No help there either.Īt this time, I'm stuck and I'm not sure what to do further. While switching between these options, I also tried launching Reaper (圆4) (reset to config defaults). I also tried WaveOut and DirectSound options. Input and Output devices selected were the Fast Track lines. I tried changing the Audio system to WASAPI. Note that between every install and uninstall, I was rebooting my PC.Ĥ. I tried installing both the M-audio ASIO drivers in compatibility mode with Windows 7 as well as Windows Vista. Selected the Fast Track as the input in the ASIO4All configuration menu and kept 256 block size and 44100 sample rate. I also ensured that the sample rate and bit setting of the Fast Track line is identical to that of the Reaper.Ģ. I get this error no matter which USB port I connect my M-audio to. "The asio sample rate is no supported by one of the usb interfaces". When I select the M-Audio ASIO, I get this error on Reaper. I've tried using M-audio ASIO drivers 6.1.12 as well as 6.0.2.5() (This one came in the CD with the M-audio) I have searched these forums and the web for a solution for the last 2 days but haven't been able to solve the problem. I only have to select Fast Track lines for Microphone and Speakers and it works absolutely fine. The same setup works fine using Audacity on my PC. If I set the microphone to my PC's mic and speakers as my M-audio, then I'm able to listen to the sounds coming in on the PC mic in Reaper. I hear only silence when I enable record monitoring as well as record something. However, the sound from the guitar does not make it on the Reaper. I've got a feed from my guitar going to the guitar jack, and USB connection from the M-audio to my PC. I have an Avid M-Audio Fast Track interface connecting to my PC. Hello All! I installed Reaper 4 days ago and I'm running it in the Evaluation mode.
